Aston Bay Intersects 22.9m @ 8.5% Cu in Nunavut’s Storm Project

Aston Bay Holdings Ltd. (TSXV:BAY) and its exploration partner, American West Metals Limited, have announced significant drilling results from their Storm Copper Project located on Somerset Island, Nunavut, Canada. These latest findings include high-grade copper intercepts outside of the known mineralized areas, suggesting potential for expansion of the Cyclone Deposit.

The Cyclone Deposit, in particular, has shown thick intersections, which further substantiate the project’s expansion potential. Drill hole SR24-093, located 75 meters south of the known mineralization, intersected 53.3 meters at 3.9% copper (Cu) and 12.6 grams per tonne (g/t) silver (Ag) starting from 86.9 meters downhole.

This includes a sub-interval of 22.9 meters at 8.5% Cu and 17.8 g/t Ag from 86.9 meters downhole. Within this, another significant interval was found at 9.1 meters at 14.4% Cu and 21.3 g/t Ag from 93 meters downhole.

Drill hole SR24-070 intersected: 45.7 meters at 1.9% Cu and 9.4 g/t Ag from 35.1 meters downhole. A portion of this interval showed 27.4 meters at 3.1% Cu and 14.6 g/t Ag from 35.1 meters downhole. Further, an inner interval of 15.2 meters at 4.2% Cu and 16.2 g/t Ag from 35.1 meters was identified.

Drill hole SR24-045 intersected: 57.9 meters at 1% Cu and 4.3 g/t Ag starting from 32 meters downhole. This included 10.7 meters at 3.2% Cu and 16.0 g/t Ag from 65.5 meters downhole.

The findings point to significant potential for extending the mineralization, particularly at the western end and southern margin of the Cyclone Deposit. This area hosts some of the shallowest and highest-grade copper mineralization, which makes it an attractive target for future open-pit mining operations.

“It is exciting to hit such a long interval of high-grade copper outside of the previously known zone of mineralization as we work toward calculation of a maiden resource estimate this fall. This suggests there is more to be found, and it bodes well for additional discoveries and expansion of the known existing mineralization with next year’s campaign,” CEO Thomas Ullrich said.

Drill hole SR24-093 stands out as a promising indicator of further discoveries. This hole, drilled to the southwest of Cyclone to a depth of 150.9 meters, encountered 53.3 meters of strong chalcocite mineralization. The mineralized zone was characterized by semi-massive sulfide content between 86.9 and 109.7 meters downhole, with an average grade of 8.5% Cu over 22.9 meters.

This area, known as the Central Graben, consists of the Allen Bay stratigraphic horizon, which is largely concealed by an overlying barren Douro formation. The faults bordering this graben appear to be linked with the concentration of copper mineralization at Storm. With a large, down-dropped block of prospective rock yet to be fully explored, the current intercepts underscore the considerable exploration potential within the Central Graben.

Aston Bay last traded at $0.10 on the TSX Venture.
