Aztec Minerals Completes 14 Holes Under Current Drill Program At Cervantes

Aztec Minerals Corp (TSXV: AZT) this morning provided an update on its currently ongoing drill program at its Cervantes gold-copper project in Sonora, Mexico. The 5,000 metre drill program to date has seen a total of 2,810 metres in aggregate completed.

The company to date has drilled a total of 14 holes under the program, with a further 8 planned before project completion. The program is currently focused on four targets, with the overall goal of better defining the open pit model being used at the project, as well as to identify the potential for heap leach processing of the gold.

The firms first exploration took place at the Purisma East target, where four holes tested IP-based targets along with gold-copper molybdenum anomalies. 300 channel samples were also collected in the region.

Following this, the drill moved to the primary target referred to as California, where a total of ten holes over 2,041 metres have been drilled to date on 50 metre spacing. Two 500 metre deep holes are yet to be drilled here to test the extent of the mineralization based on an IP anomaly.

The remainder of the program will then be expended at California Norte, where one hole is targeting an IP anomaly, and the Jasper prospect, where a single hole will test an oxide copper anomaly. Channel sampling and further mapping will then take place on the property.

Aztec Minerals last traded at $0.23 on the TSX Venture.
