Cards Against Humanity Sues SpaceX for $15 Million Over Land Dispute

The makers of the popular party game Cards Against Humanity have filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s SpaceX, alleging trespassing and property damage on a plot of land in Cameron County, Texas. The lawsuit, filed in a Texas court, seeks $15 million in damages.

“Just look at it! He fucked it,” the company wrote on the website, ElonOwesYou100Dollars.com, which they launched to publicize the dispute. The company has pledged to split any potential payout among the original 150,000 contributors, up to $100 each.

In 2017, Cards Against Humanity purchased the land as part of a satirical campaign to oppose then-President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall. The company raised funds from 150,000 contributors, each donating $15 towards the effort.

According to the lawsuit, SpaceX has been using the property without permission for at least six months, placing construction materials and debris on the land. Cards Against Humanity claims that their property, which they had maintained in its natural state and marked with a “No Trespassing” sign, has suffered vegetation loss and other damages.

The dispute highlights the growing presence of SpaceX in southern Texas, where the company has been expanding its operations. Over the past decade, Musk and SpaceX-related businesses have contributed more than $500,000 to local political campaigns, according to a recent Reuters special report. The company’s activities have reportedly created 2,100 direct jobs and significantly impacted the local economy.

This legal battle comes amidst Musk’s increasing political influence and his recent endorsement of Trump. It also follows a series of high-profile moves by Musk, including relocating Tesla’s corporate registry to Texas and announcing plans to move the headquarters of X and SpaceX to the state.
