Trump Taps Fyre Festival Fraudster to Court Rappers

Former President Donald Trump has been trying to get on the good side of Black voters for his 2024 presidential campaign. Among his efforts is to get rappers onto his MAGA bandwagon, and it seems that he’s enlisted the help of fellow convicted felon Billy McFarland.

Yes, the same Billy McFarland behind 2017’s disastrous Fyre Festival.

Despite having no formal role in Trump’s campaign, McFarland has successfully arranged meetings between the former president and several hip-hop figures. He reportedly connected Detroit rapper Icewear Vezzo with Trump ahead of a campaign visit to the city. McFarland also claims credit for bringing Brooklyn rappers Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow to a Trump rally in The Bronx.

This informal partnership comes as Trump’s campaign strategizes to increase support among Black voters, a demographic traditionally aligned with the Democratic Party. Recent polls suggest a potential shift, with Trump’s support among Black voters showing a modest increase compared to the 2020 election.

Sources close to the campaign reveal that multiple Republicans in Trump’s circle have been working to recruit hip-hop artists for endorsements and campaign appearances. For Trump, these connections seem to hold personal significance.

Sources report that he becomes visibly excited when discussing rappers who have endorsed him, comparing it to endorsements from Hollywood actors. The former president has expressed a desire for more hip-hop-related appearances in his 2024 campaign, even if they don’t necessarily result in explicit endorsements.
