Elon Musk Will Resign After He Finds “Someone Foolish Enough” To Head Twitter

Twitter chief Elon Musk declared that he would step down after losing his own poll posted two days ago. However, he will resign on one condition: as soon as he finds “someone foolish enough to take the job.”

After that, he added that he will just “run the software & servers teams” which essentially is the bulk of the operations of a social media tech company.

In a recent Twitter poll asking his followers if he should step down as the social media platform’s head, Musk saw 57% of the respondents vote yes.

The billionaire added that he will ”abide by the results” of the poll, which garnered more than 17.5 million votes.

Shortly after the poll ended, Twitter users were high in anticipation if Musk would follow the results. Twitter polls have been Musk’s way in deciding some of his business decisions. Most recently, he reinstated former US President Donald Trump’s account after a poll voted in the affirmative. He also unsuspended several journalists’ Twitter accounts following the results of a poll.

Twitter account Wall Street Silver, however, pointed out that the latest poll could have been populated by bots–despite Musk and some supporters claiming that bot activity has gone way down since he took over the platform.

When it was suggested to him to restrict poll participation only to Twitter Blue subscribers, Musk acknowledged it as a “good point” and promised to make that change.

After taking over Twitter, Musk abolished the company’s board and its C-Suite emptied out. As the single board director and owner of the company, Musk may appoint the next CEO – and also tell that individual what to do in the post.

Before the voting ended, when the “yes” votes were gaining ground, Musk tweeted a cryptic message saying “be careful what you wish [for].” He also added that “no one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive,” and as thus, there is no successor yet.

Musk is rumored to be considering a few names, including former White House advisor Jared Kushner when he was spotted with the former presidential son-in-law during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 final match between Argentina and France.

Reacting to a CNBC article that reported Musk is “actively searching for a new CEO for Twitter” even before he posted the poll, the billionaire just replied with laughing emojis.
