Is Rogers Quietly Laying Off Employees?

Concerns are mounting over the possibility of quiet layoffs at Rogers Communications (TSE: RCI.B) during recent restructuring activities within the company. According to information provided to Samfiru Tumarkin LLP, an undisclosed number of employees across various roles were let go in April.

These alleged layoffs, notes the law firm, coincide with the cancellation of Cityline, a long-running daytime talk show owned by Rogers that has been on the air for the past four decades.

The show’s host, Tracy Moore, expressed her heartbreak over the decision in a recent video.

“This show has in many ways been a gift to me, to my family and to all of us who have the honour and pleasure of working on it.”

This round of suspected job cuts follows a voluntary departure program for employees in February. The company also cut what it said was “a small percentage” of its workforce in June following its $20-billion takeover of Shaw Communications Inc.
