Joe Biden’s Own Press Secretary Cuts Off Rambling President During News Conference

With America’s aging elite still in full political swing despite well surpassing retirement age, concerns about their mental and physical capabilities continue to face the spotlight.

The latest episode of this occured in Vietnam over the weekend, where White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was forced to abruptly cut US President Joe Biden off mid-sentence during a press conference.

After fielding some pre-planned questions, he hinted at wanting to hit the sack. But, classic Biden style, he continued answering questions. The cognitively-ailing 80-year old began reminiscing about his chat with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the G20 summit in India, assuring reporters it was as confrontational as a pillow fight. He then started discussing the “third world” or was it the “southern hemisphere”?

But before he could decide, Jean-Pierre had seen enough and called it a day. Biden tried responding to another question but soon decided an exit was in order.

Biden’s press interactions are often tightly choreographed by his team, with preselected questions and cue cards provided to him. However, there have been instances where the president has deviated from this setup, sometimes exiting the stage in the midst of his statements, appearing somewhat disoriented.

A notable portion of the American public has raised concerns about the president’s fitness for office. A Wall Street Journal poll recently indicated that 73% of voters feel Biden, at the ripe age of 80, is too old for the presidency. Furthermore, 60% of those surveyed questioned his mental fitness for the role. While critiques from Republicans about his apparent cognitive decline are expected, concerns from within his own party are growing. A June NBC News survey revealed that 43% of Democrats had increasing worries about Biden’s health, a significant jump from 21% in 2020.
