Lisa LaFlamme Switches To Rogers’ CityNews As Special Correspondent

Ousted veteran TV news anchor Lisa LaFlamme has been hired by CityNews as its special correspondent to lead the program’s coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth.

LaFlamme recently made headlines when her contract reporting the headlines as the chief anchor and senior editor at CTV National News was unceremoniously canceled, allegedly due to “changing viewer habits.”

The news anchor’s contract cancelation, which was announced by CTV News’ parent company Bell Media through a press release, was received with anger and criticism — with many accusing the station of being ageist and sexist. Bell Media has since admitted that they regret the way the exit was handled.

According to CityNews, which is owned by Rogers Sports and Media, a rival of Bell Media, LaFlamme will be reporting daily from London on the legacy of the Queen and the monarchy’s transition to King Charles. She will lead the program’s live coverage of the Queen’s funeral.

“News coverage of such a pivotal moment in history is integral to achieving our mission of keeping Canadians connected and informed, and Lisa LaFlamme’s incredible talent and wealth of experience are befitting of an event of this magnitude,” said Rogers President Colette Watson.

“The Queen is the only monarch most of us have ever known. We grew up with Her Majesty and mourn the passing of this remarkable and inspiring woman,” said LaFlamme in a statement released by CityNews.

“As this second Elizabethan era comes to an end, I can only say how truly honored I am to help tell the story of her life and the legacy she leaves.”

  1. I’m extremely elated to hear this wonderful news of Lisa being hired by Rogers. I was extremely angry with Bell Media for letting her go because of her hair. My hair has been Lis’s colour for countless years before Lisa. It was refreshing to see her show her gray during COVID19 and she certainly wore it gracefully. I was dedicated to watching the National at 11:00 o’clock each night as I loved watching Lisa. I have lost interest now.
Thank you Rogers for doing this.
