Patriot Battery Metals Identifies New Spodumene Pegmatite At Corvette

Patriot Battery Metals (TSX: PMET) is reporting the discovery of an additional spodumene pegmatite occurrence at its flagship Corvette property. The discovery follows a surface exploration campaign conducted in 2023, which was cut short by forest fires in the region last year.

The new discovery, labeled as as the CV14 pegmatite, is along trend from the CV9 and CV10 pegmatite clusters. Grab samples assayed as high as 0.94% Li2O and 0.86% Li2O. The outcrop for the pegmatite is said to currently measure 33 metres by 9 metres, while the prospective trend from CV9 through to CV14 measures 3.6 kilometres in length.

“The discovery highlights the extensive nature of the spodumene mineralized system along the CV Lithium Trend, which extends across the Property where a large portion remains unexplored for lithium pegmatite. We are excited to follow-up this area with systematic surface exploration as this local prospective lithium pegmatite trend has now been extended to approximately 3.6 km<‘ commented Darren Smith, VP of Exploration for Patriot.

Elsewhere on the property, Patriot identified an extensive spodumene pegmatite boulder field just south of the CV5 pegmatite. The field is said to strengthen the interpretation that CV5 trends eastward towards CV4, while suggesting that further spodumene pegmatites might yet be undiscovered on the property.

Channel sampling conducted at CV13 meanwhile returned highlight values that include:

  • 1.22% Li2O over 13.4 metres
  • 1.44% Li2O over 6.4 metres
  • 1.93% Li2O over 5.4 metres
  • 0.80% Li2O over 16.7 metres

The channel sampling data at CV13 is expected to be used to help constrain the geological model for the pegmatite for use in a resource estimate that is slated to be released in the third quarter.

The 2024 surface exploration program is expected to follow up on the CV14 discovery with channel sampling and mapping, while also following up on the boulder fields identified in 2023. Channel sampling is expected to continue at CV13 and CV5, with CV5 also to be subjected to detailed geological mapping.

Patriot Battery Metals last traded at $8.30 on the TSX.
