FULL DISCLOSURE: This is sponsored content for Carlyle Commodities.

Preliminary metallurgical test work at Carlyle Commodities’ (CSE: CCC) flagship Newton project in British Columbia has procured positive results, with the company reporting it has achieved gold extraction rates of 80%.

“The Company is very encouraged by the preliminary gold and silver extraction numbers derived from the first ever metallurgical testing of material from the Newton project. We look forward to optimizing our potential recoveries, testing additional material from different host rocks, and continuing to advance the Newton project in the best interests of all stakeholders,” commented CEO Morgan Good.

Metallurgical testing was conducted on a master composite that came from material produced from three drill holes conducted on site. The composite is said to have consisted primarily of felsic volcanic material, which was used to conceptualize a preliminary process flowsheet for the production of gold and silver dore.

Gravity testing resulted in the recovery of up to 22.8% of gold and 5.0% of silver using 75 and 150 micron testing, with the best results coming from the coarser grind size. Preliminary whole ore leach testing was completed as well, resulting in up to 73.2% of gold and 43.2% of silver being recovered at a grind size of 75 microns.

Flotation and leeching however provided the best extraction results, with the 88.5% of gold and 82.6% of silver recovered using a rougher concentrate. After being reground to 15 microns before a pre-oxidation and cyanide leach cycle. Rougher tailings meanwhile were leached at a grind of 75 microns. Overall, flotation and leaching resulted in 80.3% gold extraction and 32.7% silver extraction.
