Taiwan Hit With Magnitude 7.4 Earthquake, Aftershocks Ongoing

Taiwan has been hit with a magnitude 7.4 earthquake this evening. The quake struck approximately one hour ago at 23:58 UTC, with several aftershocks now being reported following the quake. The earthquake was measured at a depth of 34.8 kilometres.

Two subsequent earthquakes in the region have measured at a magnitude 5.7, while a third measured at 5.5, and a fourth at 6.5. Aftershocks are said to be ongoing. A tsunami alert was issued with waves as high as 3.0 metres tall expected to hit Okinawa, Japan, however no reports of damage from a tsunami have yet been made.

Early reports from the earthquake include several damaged buildings and landslides, with no casualties yet being reported.
