GameStop Appoints Ryan Cohen As CEO

GameStop (NYSE: GME) has slightly shaken up its management team, appointing Ryan Cohen, the firms executive chairman since 2021, as its chief executive officer.

Cohen’s appointment, which was said to be a unanimous decision among board members, will see him take the reigns from Mark H Robinson, who was previously named as the company’s general manager and principal executive officer following the termination of CEO and director Matthew Furlong in June. Robinson has been with GameStop since 2015, and currently serves as the firms general counsel and secretary, roles which he will continue to perform in following the appointment of Cohen.

Cohen meanwhile takes on the role of CEO effective immediately, and is reported to be taking no compensation for the position. He will also remain as GameStop’s chairman, and take the title of president as well.

GameStop last traded at $17.15 on the NYSE.
