Social media this afternoon has been inundated with footage of the flooding being experienced by Toronto today following heavy rains. Environment Canada has warned that the region could receive up to 125 millimeters of rain today, with up to 40 millimeters of rain falling per hour.
The heavy rains have caused major infrastructure in the region to flood, including Union Station and the Don Valley Parkway, with a flood watch issued for the region as a whole.
Chaotic moments this morning, as government ministers attempted to make a transit-related announcement in the middle of a severe thunderstorm watch and rainfall warning from Environment Canada.

Toronto sits in a basin surrounded by the Greenbelt, a system of woods and wetlands that perform a crucial role of absorbing water. The Ontario government recently voted to open them up to development, paving them over, giving rainfall nowhere to go.
