Country singer Travis Tritt is facing ridicule on social media after he claimed that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp was in debt before he was elected governor in 2018.
In a post to Truth Social, the Twitter clone owned by Donald Trump, Tritt claimed that “confidential sources” in Georgia told him that Kemp was in more than $7 million in debt, but Kemp “cut a deal with the state of Georgia” to select Dominion Voting Systems as the provider of the new statewide voting system.
“My sources tell me that Kemp has never been in debt since that deal was done,” Tritt wrote. “Connect the dots.”
Tritt’s post has been met with widespread criticism on social media, with many users calling him out for spreading misinformation.
I have confidential sources that tell me that people with large platforms are somehow getting more clueless.

Financial disclosures are public. Kemp reported a net worth of $5.2M in 2018. https://t.co/H0zrLzzRiy

With some saying Dominion Voting Systems should also go after Tritt. (Dominion is the recipient of the largest publicly known defamation settlement in US history involving a media company when it settled a case against Fox News for $787.5 million in April.)

The false information has also already been tagged via Context on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Take the politics out of it for a second…if you truly believe that a shitty D listed musician like Travis Tritt has high intel about a huge case against a former president that no one else knows in America, you deserve to give your life savings to a Nigerian prince.

Earlier in the year, Tritt also made controversial statements on social media. He played a role in the boycott of Bud Light beer after transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney promoted the drink on Instagram.
As of this writing, the singer has not responded to the criticism of his latest post.
In related news, Kid Rock appears to have left the Bud Light-hating bandwagon.
Kemp won against Vernon Jones at the 2021 GOP Primary. Tritt publicly supported Jones and headlined his July 2021 fundraiser.
