US Consumer Price Index Comes In At 3.1% In November

Inflation across the United States in November rose by 0.1% on a seasonally adjusted basis for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U). The all items index meanwhile increased 3.1% before seasonal adjustment over the last 12 months.

The rise was attributed to gains in shelter, which offset a decline seen within the gasoline index of 6.0%. The food index also increase, climbing by 0.2% in November, after gains seen in October. On a granular level, food at home increased 0.1%, while food away from home rose by 0.4%.

The all items index rose to 3.1% for November, versus a rise of 3.2% for the 12 months ending in October. All items less food and energy rose 4.0%, while the food increased has increased 2.9% in the last year.
