FULL DISCLOSURE: This is sponsored content for Vortex Metals.

Vortex Metals (TSXV: VMS) has completed the field work necessary to complete an environmental baseline study at its Zaachila Copper project in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The program is said to have consisted of two parts, with the first being a two week excursion to conduct biological studies, conducted under the guidance of environmental firm Ambiental y Social Servicios Integrales, which consisted of ten specialists focused on flora and fauna in the area. Areas of interest are said to include the wildlife in the region, as well as flora.

This portion of work is a requirement under the environmental baseline study being conducted to determine the biodiversity across the project area. The work for this portion of the study is said to now be complete, with the baseline study being a requirement to an environmental impact statement that is needed for the evaluation and approval of drilling by the regulator.

The second component of the field work program is said to consist of surface geological work, with this work slated to continue through to September 1. This portion of work is focused on the over 5 kilometres of copper-in-rock anomalies that exists on site, which is found in sub-marine volcanic breccia and debris deposits.

A trenching program has begun, which will focus on opening exposures of mineralization where historical sampling has occurred. The intent is to define geologic continuity, as well as locations for proposed drilling, which is necessary under an environmental impact study.

“The results of this study will be an integral part of the EIA that Vortex Metals will submit in the coming weeks, bringing us one step closer to advancing the Zaachila copper project for mineral exploration of the previously identified significant anomalous copper mineralization,” commented CEO Vikas Ranjan.

Vortex Metals last traded at $0.135 on the TSX Venture.
