Canada Nickel Reports 52% Nickel Recovery In Testing At Crawford Project

Canada Nickel Company (TSXV: CNC) this morning announced the results of metallurgical testing at its Crawford Nickel-Cobalt Sulphide project. Testing has revealed nickel recovery of 52% from a high grade core sample.

Half of the nickel recovered reportedly is in a high grade concentrate at 37%, while standard grade concentrate returned a grade of 13%. If the company is able to deliver 40-50% of the recovered nickel into a 35% concentrate, it reportedly would make the highest grade nickel concentrate globally, as per Wood Mackenzie.

Cobalt recovery meanwhile was stated as being roughly 35% within the locked cycle test.

The results follow three successful locked cycle tests conducted on the flowsheet design developed by the company. Subsequent testing is slated to occur throughout the year, as the company looks to finalize a final flowsheet for the feasibility study that is currently expected to be completed by year end.

The second phase of metallurgical testing is to focus on two key items. First is the optimization of the recovery and concentrate grades, as well as the amount of grinding and reagents used to produce the concentrates. Second is ongoing lab work that will look to improve recovery potential for the project.

Canada Nickel Company last traded at $2.50 on the TSX Venture.
