Adult content website OnlyFans is being accused of placing the social media accounts of rivals on a terrorism database, in an effort to stifle competition.
As reported by the BBC on Tuesday, FanCentro, a similar adult content website, filed a claim with a Florida court back in November against OnlyFans owner Leonid Radvinsky as well as Fenix Internet LLC— the company that conducts its financial transactions. According to the documents, FanCentro alleges that OnlyFans conspired to place the social media accounts of content creators using rival pornography websites on the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT) database.
Once placed on the GIFCT database, the creator’s content is affixed with a digital signature, called “hashes.” The database is linked to various social media sites including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, so if one platform hashes content, the post is then flagged across all other companies, thus allowing for the moderation of identical content. FanCentro said that OnlyFans “manipulated” the GIFCT database, as its users had their social media posts deleted and accounts frozen, despite not promoting content related to terrorist activities.

As a result, FanCentro is demanding that OnlyFans recoups the financial damages inflicted on the company in response to the flagged content, as it allegedly caused the website’s traffic to decline. OnlyFans has yet to legally respond to the accusations, but the company’s spokesperson insisted that FanCentro’s legal challenge has “no merit.”
