Nikola Corp (Nasdaq: NKLA) will recall all of the electric Nikola Tre Class 8 trucks it has delivered so far due to a discovered improper installation of the shoulder anchorage assembly of the seat belts. The feature, when left unaddressed, could lessen the driver’s protection in case of a possible vehicular crash.
The faulty installation was said to have been detected by a Nikola employee on July 18 during a pre-delivery inspection. The shoulder anchorage on the passenger side seat belt was reportedly disconnected from the B-pillar adjuster.
The company then informed its Italian manufacturing partner Iveco that the installation was not up to specification.

Nikola promised that it will replace for free the components figured to be improperly installed, informing all its customers of the 93 units delivered via mail between Oct. 1 and Nov. 1.
The firm recently made headlines when its founder Trevor Milton was caught in a trial on securities and wire fraud charges against him. He is being accused of misleading investors by misrepresenting inoperable products as fully functional and lying about the company’s technology and partnerships.
The trial resumes on Wednesday.
Nikola Corp last traded at US$3.80 on the Nasdaq, an all-time low for the firm.
