Russia has accused Ukraine of launching a drone attack on the Kremlin on Tuesday evening.
In a statement published on Wednesday, the Kremlin claimed that two drones had been used in a planned terrorist attack to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin, but the drones had been disabled by Russian forces.
“Two unmanned aerial vehicles were aimed at the Kremlin. As a result of timely actions taken by the military and special services with the use of radar warfare systems, the vehicles were put out of action,” the Kremlin press service said.

The Kremlin said that there were no victims and material damage, and that Putin was not hurt as a result of the attack.
“The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit,” the Kremlin noted.
Footage of the alleged attack has been posted on Twitter, although it has not been verified if the video is from the evening of the alleged incident. It shows a small explosion from what appears to be a drone over the roof of one of the buildings in the Kremlin complex.
Another unverified video shows the alleged aftermath of the attack, although the Kremlin press service had already said that the complex sustained no material damage.
As of this writing, Kyiv has not released a comment on the Kremlin’s claims. And the Kremlin has not provided further details or evidence to support its claims.
Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian leader was not in the complex at the time of the alleged assassination attack. Peskov said that Putin will be spending the day at the Novo-Ogoryovo state residence outside the capital.
The Kremlin also announced that the May 9 Victory Day parade, which commemorates Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, will proceed as planned in Moscow.
