Georgia law enforcement officials are currently investigating threats made against members of the grand jury that recently indicted former United States President Donald Trump and 18 of his associates.
The investigation comes in response to the publication of personal information, including images and addresses, of the 23 jurors and three alternates on various “fringe” websites, some of which have connections to right-wing conspiracy theories.
The Fulton County Sheriff’s office, led by Sheriff Pat Labat, is leading the investigation to trace the origin of these threats. They are collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of the grand jury members who carried out their civic duty.
The 41-count indictment, returned by a Fulton County grand jury, alleges that Trump and his associates engaged in an illegal conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
Despite the grand jury proceedings being confidential, the unredacted names of its members were included in the indictment – a standard practice in Georgia. This transparency allows criminal defendants the opportunity to challenge the grand jury’s composition, while the indictment itself becomes part of the public record.

Several of these fringe websites reportedly disclosed the jurors’ personal information, leading to direct threats from unnamed users, with one individual referring to the information as a “hit list.” This has prompted condemnation from the American Bar Association (ABA), which emphasized the importance of protecting jurors’ privacy and safety.
The ABA stressed that juror participation is vital for the proper functioning of the judicial system and called for denunciation of these activities by political leaders and law enforcement agencies.
“The civic-minded members of the Georgia grand jury performed their duty to support our democracy. It is unconscionable that their lives should be upended and safety threatened for being good citizens,” they wrote, and urged “all political and governmental leaders to denounce this activity and for law enforcement to investigate fully any threats to the innocent people involved.”
