Palestinian Authority, Arab Nations Welcome Trump Gaza Peace Plan

The Palestinian Authority and eight Arab nations welcomed President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace proposal for Gaza on Monday, pledging to work with the United States to implement a comprehensive agreement to end the war.

The Palestinian government issued a statement expressing confidence in Trump’s ability to find a path toward peace and committed to implementing reforms outlined in the proposal, including holding new elections and ending a system that provides payments to families of militants involved in attacks on Israelis.

“The State of Palestine welcomes the sincere and determined efforts of President Donald J. Trump to end the war on Gaza and affirms its confidence in his ability to find a path toward peace,” the Palestinian statement said.

In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt said they “welcome President Donald J Trump’s leadership and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza.”

The ministers reaffirmed their readiness to help finalize an agreement that would deliver aid to Gaza without restrictions, keep Palestinians from being forced to leave, free the hostages, establish security arrangements protecting all parties, and ensure complete Israeli troop withdrawal.

The proposal calls for Gaza’s demilitarization, an immediate ceasefire, and the release of all Israeli hostages within 72 hours. Under the plan, Gaza would be governed temporarily by a technocratic Palestinian committee overseen by an international “Board of Peace” to be chaired by Trump.

The Palestinian Authority pledged to pursue “a modern, democratic, and non-militarized Palestinian state, committed to pluralism and the peaceful transfer of power.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted the proposal during a White House meeting with Trump on Monday. Hamas has not yet formally responded to the written plan, though Trump said he was hearing the militant group “wants to get this done too.”

Trump warned that if Hamas rejects the agreement, Israel would have the United States’ “full backing” to continue its military campaign against the group.
