Stellantis (NYSE: STLA) launched a third shift at its Windsor Assembly Plant on Tuesday, adding more than 1,700 jobs as the automaker expands production of Dodge Charger muscle cars and Chrysler minivans.
The shift brings total employment at the plant to nearly 6,000 people, the company announced on Thursday. Production now runs around the clock across midnight, day, and afternoon shifts.
“Launching the new third shift at the Windsor Assembly Plant is a proud and significant milestone for Stellantis and for our Canadian operations,” Stellantis Canada CEO Trevor Longley said in a statement. “We’re creating jobs, expanding capacity and building real momentum.”

The expansion comes as the automaker faces a government lawsuit seeking hundreds of millions of dollars over its decision to cancel production at its Brampton, Ontario plant. Nearly 250 employees transferred from Brampton to Windsor to fill new roles created by the third shift.
Windsor Assembly now produces the Chrysler Pacifica, Voyager, and Grand Caravan minivans alongside the new 2026 Dodge Charger lineup. The plant builds both gas-powered Charger models equipped with the twin-turbocharged SIXPACK engine and all-electric Charger Daytona versions.

Stellantis eliminated Windsor’s third shift in July 2020, cutting roughly 1,500 positions. The company announced in December that it had surpassed 1,000 new hires for the restored shift.
The automaker said it remains focused on maintaining a strong Canadian footprint and is actively evaluating future production plans for Brampton. All hourly workers affected by Brampton’s operational pause continue to receive 70% of their salary plus health benefits.
Industry Minister Mélanie Joly served Stellantis with a notice of default in December after the company shifted Jeep Compass production from Brampton to Illinois. Ottawa provided over $1 billion to reconfigure the Brampton plant before Stellantis canceled those plans in October, eliminating approximately 3,000 jobs.
