Amazon is escalating its Anthropic wager with a new agreement that adds up to $25 billion to the $8 billion it had already committed, while locking in more than $100 billion of AWS-related spending from the startup over the next decade.

It is tying that capital to a 10-year infrastructure relationship that turns Anthropic’s need for compute into long-term demand for AWS chips, cloud capacity, and model-serving infrastructure. Anthropic said the agreement secures up to 5 gigawatts of AWS capacity to train and deploy Claude using Trainium2, Trainium3, Trainium4, and future generations of Amazon’s custom AI silicon. Capacity begins coming online this quarter, with nearly 1 gigawatt expected by the end of 2026. Amazon separately said significant Trainium3 capacity is expected this year.
