CloudMD Enables Free Telehealth Solutions To 3,000 Healthcare Professionals

CloudMD Software & Services (CSE: DOC) is doing what it can to assist healthcare professionals in the battle of slowing the coronavirus pandemic. This morning, the firm announced that it will be offering a free trial to all medical professionals currently utilizing it’s Juno electronic medical record system (EMR) for its built-in proprietary telemedicine solutions platform.

The free offering is applicable to healthcare professionals across North America that currently use the Juno EMR system. The company will be immediately turning on its integrated telemedicine client on a free trial basis to all 315 clinics across North America which currently utilize the Juno EMR program. This provides free access to telehealth solutions for approximately 3000 healthcare professionals, enabling them to be able to access all appointments scheduled through the app directly in their EMR program in real time. The telehealth client can be accessed through a single-click, without the use of additional interfaces and crowded screens.

While access of the platform will be free for healthcare professionals, CloudMD will remain able to bill the appropriate health region or insurance agency for the telehealth visit.

We’ve reached out to all levels of governments and health agencies to offer our support during these trying times. At CloudMD, we are focused on mitigating the stressors placed on the public health care system by providing patients access to the care they need while reducing the burden on emergency rooms and walk-in clinics.

Dr. David Ostrow, current Chief Medical Officer of CloudMD and former CEO of Vancouver Coastal Health Authority

The offering follows the hurried scale up of technological solutions in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. Last Friday, US President Donald Trump called for the enhanced use of telemedicine solutions to help reduce the spread of the virus. Certain federal rules have been waived as a means of being able to offer remote care using video chats, while funding was allocated in a recent bill for the use of video care by Medicare beneficiaries.

In Canada, similar measures have taken place, with the Ministry of Health working to get telehealth services implemented promptly. The province of Ontario on Friday announced an emergency telehealth billing code, enabling residents of the province to be fully funded for telemedicine visits, while Quebec announced similar moves over the weekend.
