Canada Nickel Signs Hydro One Agreements For Crawford Power Connection

Canada Nickel Company (TSXV: CNC) has advanced the Crawford Nickel Project by signing two agreements with Hydro One Network that allow engineering work to begin for the project’s power connection to Hydro One’s Porcupine Station, a key enabling milestone for the company’s flagship nickel development.

The agreements form part of the Ontario Energy Board’s approved connection process and authorize Hydro One to start detailed engineering and design work tied to Crawford’s future grid connection. The work specifically covers the line terminal and station entrance at Porcupine Station, which would serve as the tie-in point for Crawford’s power supply.

Hydro One will handle facilitation, design and procurement required to connect Crawford, alongside associated engineering work. The transmission line linking Crawford to Porcupine Station is planned to be built for Canada Nickel through the company’s previously announced project with Taykwa Tagamou Nation.

Once the engineering work is complete, Canada Nickel said it will enter into a final agreement with Hydro One for construction activities at Porcupine Station. That construction phase would be required to enable grid connection of the Crawford Project.

However, the announcement does not yet state a construction start date, a capital cost for the connection work or a completion timeline for either the engineering program or the eventual build at Porcupine Station.

Canada Nickel last traded at $1.86 on the TSX Venture.
