Davies responded on social media to the report, saying he never made such a proposal and had not heard of any discussions about the arrangement. The CTV article, published Saturday morning, carried the headline: “Interim NDP leader says party ‘open’ to Speaker of the House role in exchange for resources.”
“Ridiculous headline. Read the article – I said no such thing,” Davies wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Never heard of this proposal, no discussion of it, will never happen.”
The article by CTV reporter Stephanie Ha says that Davies said his party is “open to taking on the Speaker of the House position in exchange for resources, but insists the scenario is ‘hypothetical’ and no such discussion has taken place with the Liberals.”
