And so the Donald Trump-Elon Musk social media melodrama continues.
In a not-so-surprising turn of events, the former US president has posted a response to the world’s richest man telling him he’s too old to run for president in 2024, and it’s time for him to “sail into the sunset.”
The response, also not surprising, is about as petty as one would expect. On Tuesday evening, Trump took to his own version of Twitter, Truth Social, to hit back and shared a photo from a time when Musk allegedly asked for his help at the Whitehouse and told him that he was a “big Trump fan and Republican.”
And in true Trumpian fashion, he ended the caption with “I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it.”

Trump also made a comment on the recent developments regarding the news that Twitter has slapped Musk with a lawsuit that would force him to push through with the US$44 billion dollar takeover deal after he attempted to walk away from it.
“Now Elon should focus on getting himself out of the Twitter mess because he could owe $44 billion for something that’s perhaps worthless. Also, lots of competition for electric cars!” Trump warned.
But Trump has a lot on his plate, too. The new company behind Truth Social, Trump Media and Technology Group was recently issued subpoenas by the Securities and Exchange Commission and a federal grand jury in Manhattan, in relation to some alleged illegal activities surrounding the proposed merger between TMTG and the SPAC Digital World Acquisition Corp.
The former president is also still busy telling everyone that the 2020 election was rigged, midway into the midterm election and deep in the middle of the January 6 Committee hearings.
Musk meanwhile, in true Muskian fashion, responded with a meme.
