Elon Musk, the wealthiest person on Earth, has a lot going on. It seems that one of these things is to make sure that he does what he can to beat what he calls the looming population crisis.
The Tesla CEO reportedly had twins with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis in November last year, just weeks before Musk’s second child with musician Claire Boucher, a.k.a. Grimes, was born via surrogate in December.
According to court documents, Musk and Zilis filed a petition in a Travis County, Texas court in April to change the twins’ names. The two wanted the children to “have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.” The request was approved by a judge in May.

Zilis, 36, has been an integral part of Musk’s ventures. According to Insider, she was project director at Tesla in 2017, lending her AI expertise to the Autopilot and chip design teams. She also becaome the youngest member of the board of directors of the nonprofit OpenAI, and she is currently director of operations and special projects for Neuralink, the neurotechnology company. It’s also been suggested that she would be one of the people that Musk consider to help run Twitter after his acquisition.
Prior to joining Musk’s network, she spearheaded investment efforts in data and machine learning in the early-stage venture-capital fund Bloomberg Beta. She was included in the venture capital category of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 in 2015 in the venture-capital category.
Zilis is also a lifelong athlete, she was goalie on the women’s ice-hockey team in Yale where she received her bachelor’s degree in economics and philosophy in 2008.
It’s unclear whether the two are in a relationship, or if this was purely part of his bid to stem population decline. (Or to create a group of humans to populate Mars?)
Court documents indicate that Zilis and Musk listed the same address, a home in a gated community in Texas that Zilis purchased and moved into a few months before the twins were born.
