Forest fires are beginning to halt the operations of resources names again this year, with Foran Mining (TSX: FOM) announcing Thursday that operations at their flagship McIlvenna Bay Project have been put on hold.
Non-essential personnel and contractors are in the process of being demobilized from site as a precautionary measure. Foran has stated that the evacuation is out of “an abundance of caution” and that they are in coordination with local emergency services and officials.
A limited number of staff will be remaining on site to ensure the safety and security of the project.

The McIlvenna Bay project is found in Saskatchewan, 65 kilometres to the west of Flin Flon, Manitoba. The project is accessed via highway 106. The wildfire believed to be threatening the region currently is the Wolf Fire, which is currently uncontained and approximately 1,100 hectares in size according to the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency. The fire is said to be within 10 kilometres of the mine site.
Foran Mining last traded at $3.02 on the TSX.
