Exploration has begun at Hemlo Explorers’ (TSXV: HMLO) flagship project in Ontario. Drilling is now underway at Project Idaho, found two kilometres to the east of the Marathon Palladium-Copper Project, near Marathon, Ontario.
The drill program is the first to be conducted since 1985, and is focused on testing several VTEM anomalies known to occur at depth along a three kilometre long magnetic trend. The anomalies are found near to the inferred boundary of the Coldwell Complex and the Archean volcanics.

Grab samples previously collected from the target area are said to have been anomalous for platinum, palladium, gold, and copper, with surface exposure consisting of chaotic brecciated textures containing visible sulfide mineralization.
“We believe we have the potential to discover a significant mineralized system similar to the Marathon Pd-Cu project. We are excited to be drilling the western side of Project Idaho close to a neighbouring deposit in virgin ground,” commented CEO Brian Howlett.

Targets selected for drilling are said to be shallow, with an average depth of 180 metres. The overall size of the drill program was not released.
Hemlo Explorers last traded at $0.08 on the TSX Venture.
