Iran launched live-fire exercises toward the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, with semi-official Iranian outlets reporting that missiles fired from inside Iran and along its coast struck designated targets in the strait.
Tehran said its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard began the drill early the prior morning across the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf, and the Gulf of Oman.
Tasnim, described as close to the Revolutionary Guard, reported that launched missiles hit their targets in the Strait of Hormuz after being fired from Iranian territory and coastal positions.

Separately, Iranian state TV said the Strait of Hormuz would be closed for several hours for the live-fire drills. Reuters similarly reported Iran would close parts of the strait for a few hours tied to Revolutionary Guard drills, citing semi-official Fars.
The drill coincided with the US and Iran beginning a second round of indirect talks on Iran’s nuclear program in Geneva, with Oman mediating.
