John Fowler and Supreme Cannabis Part Ways

The Supreme Cannabis Company (TSX: FIRE) announced this morning that founder and current Chief Advocacy Officer John Fowler has left the firm. Fowler’s departure is effectively immediately.

Fowler, who formerly served as the Chief Executive Officer of Supreme Cannabis, guided the firm through its early days as a publicly listed issuer. As one of the original founders of 7Acres, the licensed producer owned by Supreme, he’s become known as one of the original names within the cannabis space.

Supreme did not indicate the reason for Fowler’s departure, or who came to the decision for the split. The associated press release simply indicates that Supreme Cannabis and John Fowler have “parted ways.”

Fowler previously was named President of Supreme Cannabis, after former CFO Nav Dhaliwal was named the Chief Executive in September 2018. Earlier this year, as part of a management shake up, his role at the firm was then changed to Chief Advocacy Officer. By mid July, Fowler had stepped down as a director of the firm following slight changes to the executive team at Supreme.

Fowler’s departure comes following a new initiative that Supreme began only two weeks ago, wherein Fowler was to host a podcast known as Session Garden. The podcast was to feature a backstage pass to the cannabis industry, focusing on what insiders viewed as the biggest topics of the day. The accompanying news release for the launch of the Session Garden podcast has since been scrubbed from the firms website.

Supreme Cannabis is currently trading at $0.73 on the TSX Exchange.
