K2 Gold Corporation (TSXV: KTO) reported today its discovery of a significant zone of copper mineralization at the Stega target on the Mojave project in Southern California. Samples from the area have yielded up to 14.2% copper with mineralization associated with locally anomalous gold and silver.
The company collected a total of 99 rock chip and grab samples were collected on the Stega target, 53 of which were collected along the discovered copper mineralization zone. K2 estimates that the discovered copper zone, referred to as the Stega Copper Zone, is up to 250 metres in width, 1.8 kilometres in length, and is open to the north and northwest.
The exploration work is part of the company’s ongoing evaluation of the entire Mojave property. The company relayed that the recent results provided further confirmation that the entire Mojave project area is a part of a large multi-commodity mineral zone that hosts gold, silver, copper, and other base metals.
