North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un has re-emerged from summer vacation to bolster his threats against South Korea and the US.
After remaining out of the pubic eye for almost three weeks, Kim took a break from vacationing at his coastal mansion to once again remind South Korea’s new conservative president Yoon Suk Yeol that his communist country is not to be messed with. According to Kim, “US imperialists are pushing the South Korean authorities into a suicidal confrontation” with their northern neighbours, and as such, North Korea is ready for battle.
“The South Korean regime and its military thugs are devising tactics to confront us militarily,” said Kim during a speech on Thursday, as cited by Bloomberg. “Such a dangerous attempt will be immediately punished by our powerful force, and the Yun Suk Yeol regime and his army will be eliminated.” With much of the world’s attention focused on the conflict in Ukraine, North Korea has taken to opportunity to shine up its provocations against the West, testing a record number of ballistic missiles and even allegedly preparing to conduct its first nuclear test in almost five years.

Kim’d remarks come on the July 27 anniversary of the inception of the armistice agreement between North Korea, China, and US-backed UN forces, which ultimately ended the Korean War in 1953.
