If this made it to the Internet, it’s safe to say that ChaosGPT has yet to achieve its goals.
A new AI bot, ChaosGPT, has recently been created to “destroy humanity,” “establish global dominance,” “cause chaos and destruction,” “control humanity through manipulation,” and “attain immortality.”
In this video, the bot demonstrates how it tries to achieve these goals first by researching nuclear weapons (an interesting choice), then by attempting to get AI agents to expand the research, and then by deciding to use Twitter (another interesting choice) to “attract followers” interested in nuclear weapons, particularly the Tsar Bomba (a Russian nuke which it found to be the most powerful), and try to influence them.
By now, everyone familiar with ChatGPT knows that its usefulness relies greatly on how well the prompt is written. ChaosGPT’s simplistic, albeit still alarming, prompts tell you that it’s not really going to destroy humanity (at least not in 25 minutes), and one can tell right away that while it thinks, reasons, and strategizes, it still lacks the nuances and complexity of a world-dominating supervillain.

What it offers instead is an interesting look into the potential of Auto-GPT. ChaosGPT was created by this new open-source AI project. A number of developers are working on putting together an “autonomous” system that can execute a sequence of tasks on its own — like writing, developing, and debugging code, plus critiquing and amending mistakes. As evidenced by ChaosGPT, Auto-GPT also allows the bot to search the internet and post tweets, complete with hashtags.
Auto-GPT accomplishes goals by breaking them down into smaller tasks, which it will narrate to the user in detail in the form of thinking and reasoning. These tasks, like searching the internet, can be “jobbed out” to multiple AI “agents.” Ideally, the system could, on its own, complete jobs made up of a sequence of steps with a QA and iteration process, like developing a website.
It’s always equally fascinating and terrifying to see new things that AI can do. For now, though, ChaosGPT has yet to become the supervillain for which the world has been bracing itself.
