The Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests has elected to re-close access to portions of forest land owned by the state as a result of the threat of forest fires, despite the region being re-opened to the public just days ago on June 14.
“Due to the low precipitation received over the past few days and the low precipitation forecast at the beginning of the week, the flammability indexes could rise from very high to extreme for several regions of Québec over the next few days,” commented the Ministry in a release late last night.
The order most notably applies to the Nord-Du-Quebec region among others, which includes the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec where many mineral explorers are currently looking to conduct summer exploration programs, which have been again hampered by the closure.
Patriot Battery Metals (TSXV: PMET) is again expected to be impacted by the closure, with the company just four days ago indicating that it would be proceeding with its work programs following the lifting of the fire ban on June 14. The company intended to conducted both a drill and surface exploration program.

Other regions impacted by the closure includ portions of Cote-Nord, Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Abitibi-Temiscamingue, Mauricie, and Outaouais. A prohibition on open fires in or near the forest also remains in place.
