This morning, a number of cannabis issuers announced developments on the branding front. With second generation cannabis markets coming available next week and the US marketplace heating up, this news was largely expected by the market.
Issuers including Canopy Growth Corp (TSX: WEED) (NYSE: CGC), Sundial Growers (NASDAQ: SNDL), Supreme Cannabis (TSX: FIRE) and others released details on certain products soon to hit the shelves. Here’s a quick run down of what Canadian and US consumers alike have in store.
Canopy Growth Corp
The worlds largest cannabis company this morning announced its branding entrance to the federally legal CBD marketplace. While savvy investors have known of the data for a week or two, Canopy formally announced its First & Free brand name for the US market this morning.

Products, which are derived from hemp, will include creams, softgels, and oil drops. Canopy was clear in stating that the CBD products will only be sold in states where permitted, and that no unfounded claims, as per the FDA, would be made on the products. Specific jurisdictions where the products are available were not indicated. Sales will initially be conducted via an e-commerce platform.
Supreme Cannabis
The latest brand name to be brought to market by Supreme Cannabis will be known as Sugarleaf by 7AC, or Sugarleaf for short. The product, labelled as yet another premium offering from Supreme, will see the firm utilize what is known as the “sugar leaves” of the cannabis plant. These leaves consist of the small leafs seen sticking out of cannabis buds, and are referred to as such due to their thick coating of trichomes, which looks akin to sugar.
The product line enables Supreme to take advantage of a part of the plant that is often in a grey area of whether its “trim” or “smokable.” The issuer is advertising the product as being a more refined, mild consumption option for those new to cannabis. The product line will feature sugar leaves from Supreme’s most popular strains, with the first being that of Jack Haze which will be offered in a pre-roll format, with cannabis 2.0 products expected in the new year.
Sundial Growers
Sundial has taken a focus on providing product to cannabis connoisseurs and enthusiasts with its new product line known as Top Leaf Cannabis. The new offering is expected to offer a premium, rich experience for long time consumers of the product. The product will be offered in a number of formats, included dried flower, pre-rolls, and vapes.

The products are expected to be grown in a small-batch format similar to a craft operation via its facility in Olds, Alberta. The new brand line will feature four series of product offerings, which consists of the following.
- The Black Series—strong and unique flavors with a variety of interesting terpene profiles
- The Masters Series—unique strains that are rare and notoriously difficult to grow
- The Legends Series—a modern take on famous cannabis classics
- The Untamed Series— original landrace strains cultivated in their natural environment from around the world
Product is expected to ship before the end of the year to a number of provinces, including Alberta and BC, with the firm first shipping two strain varieties consisting of Strawberry Cream and GSC. Later strains to be used into 2020 will include Blue Dream, Super Skunk, Sweet J, and Oregon Golden Goat.
1933 Industries x OG DNA Genetics
The final issuer to release brand information this morning is that of 1933 Industries (CSE: TGIF), who this morning announced a second licensing agreement with that of OG DNA Genetics. The agreement will see 1933 manufacture and distribute a line of hemp-derived CBD products with DNA’s brand for the US market.
The agreement marks the first time that DNA Genetics’ brand will be seen on CBD-only products. However, it will also allow DNA to leverage 1933’s network of 800 retailers under its current distribution framework, enabling DNA to vastly expand its product reach.
No timeline was given for when the first products are anticipated to hit the markets.
