Tesla Inc (Nasdaq: TSLA) has temporarily suspended Cybertruck production at its Austin factory from December 3 to 5, directing workers to stay home while continuing to receive their regular pay, according to an internal memo viewed by Business Insider.
Production workers were informed they would receive eight hours of compensation for each scheduled workday during the three-day pause, with operations set to resume on December 6. Some workers will follow different schedules and will be notified separately, according to the memo.
The electric vehicle maker has experienced scheduling irregularities on its Cybertruck production line since late October, with four workers reporting they were either sent home upon arrival or assigned to training exercises and cleaning duties during their scheduled hours.

“When I started at Tesla you could expect to get overtime pay, now I feel lucky to get 40 hours,” a long-term employee who works on the Cybertruck line told Business Insider.
The pause follows earlier signs of potential production adjustments, including shift reductions for Cybertruck line workers in April. While the vehicle garnered more than 2 million reservations when deliveries began last year, according to Electrek, recent developments suggest changing demand patterns.
Some late-position reservation holders have reported receiving their vehicles ahead of schedule, indicating faster-than-expected movement through the waiting list. Additionally, multiple reservation holders have also decided against ordering the vehicle after Tesla announced pricing.
